Jeffrey J. Miller

Born on April 11, 1970 in Marquette, Michigan to Robert, Jr. and Sandra Miller, Jeff, his two brothers and sister moved around the country as his father rose in the ranks with a lighting company. Moving to Lubbock, Texas and beginning school in El Paso, Texas, he then moved to Houston, Texas, Canton, Michigan and finally North Ridgeville, Ohio where he graduated high school. By 1995, Jeff had happily returned to the state he had fallen in love with many years prior and has proudly called Texas his home ever since. This state pride led Jeff to serve for over 11 years in the Texas State Guard, retiring in 2012 with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Inspired by his paternal grandfather’s Masonic burial service, Jeff asked his father for a petition and was Raised a third generation Master Mason on February 24, 1998 in Dallas Lodge No. 760. He served as Worshipful Master in 2002-2003, at which time he became an Endowed member and had the privilege of presenting his father with an Endowed membership as a thank you for helping him start his Masonic travels. Jeff was awarded the Master’s Distinguished Service Award in 2006, 2007 and 2014 and was chosen to receive the Golden Trowel in 2009. He served Grand Master Orville O’Neill as District Deputy Grand Master for District 14-A in 2010. It was through his appointment as Junior Steward by his now father-in-law that Jeff met his sweetheart Elizabeth Cumming, whom he married on October 15, 2011.

On July 10, 1999, Jeff was Exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Love Field Chapter No. 478 and is an Endowed member. Shortly thereafter, he affiliated with Dallas Chapter No. 47, where he served as High Priest in 2005-2006, receiving the Order of High Priesthood in 2005 and becoming an Endowed member in 2006. He has served as the Treasurer since 2012. Jeff served the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas on the Credentials Committee from 2007-2014, serving as Chairman from 2011-2014.

Jeff was Greeted a Select Master in Love Field Council No. 396 on July 10, 1999, where he is an Endowed member. Affiliating with Dallas Council No. 18, Jeff served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 2003-2004, received the Order of the Silver Trowel in 2003, the Super Excellent Masters in 2003 and became Endowed in 2004. He continues to serve as the Treasurer and has done so since 2012. He was chosen to serve the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Texas as District Deputy Grand Master for District 14 in 2007. He was elected to the progressive Grand Line in 2014.

On August 6, 1999, Jeff was Knighted in Dallas Commandery No. 6, K.T. where he served as Commander in 2006 and is an Endowed member. As Commander his highest honor and privilege was Knighting his father. Jeff was Commissioned a Knight Preceptor in Texas Chapter in 2006. He has been a proud member of Dallas Commandery’s state and national championship Drill Team since 2000. He was awarded the Excalibur Award in 2012. He has served as the Recorder since his election in 2011.

Upon his service as the head of Dallas Lodge, Dallas Chapter, Dallas Council and Dallas Commandery, he was honored to be inducted into the North Texas Priory No. 73, Knights of the York Cross of Honour in 2008.

He joined Lyle L. Cross York Rite College No. 147 in 2001, serving as Secretary since 2011. He joined Rose of Sharon Council No. 49, Knight Masons in 2000. Jeff was selected for the Royal Order of Scotland in 2013 and became a Charter Member of San Jacinto Monument Assemblage of Operatives in 2015. He was Knighted into the Commemorative Order of St. Thomas of Acon in Tejas Chapel in 2010, serving as Secretary from 2012-2017. He was proud to be Charter Senior Warden of Loyd L. Chance Council No. 522 Allied Masonic Degrees, serving as Sovereign Master in 2014. He received the Masonic Order of the Bath in 2013 and was elected to receive the Red Branch of Eri – Knight Commander in 2014.

Jeff became a Master of the Royal Secret (32nd Degree) in 1998 at Dallas Scottish Rite, alongside his father. Jeff has served as Degree Master of the Spring 24th Degree team since 2004.

The bond between Jeff and his father is not only Masonic; Jeff’s father was instrumental in securing Jeff’s first job at fourteen, working under his father’s supervision in the lighting industry. Jeff has worked in lighting all of his adult life, having been with his current employer for over seventeen years.

As evidenced by his work history, Jeff is no stranger to longevity. While his Masonic endeavors are vast, they are nowhere near complete.
