Was born in Travis County, Texas on June 7, 1911. Graduated from High School in Austin, Texas. Attended the University of Texas two years, member of Acacia Honorary. He and his wife Doris, now reside in Dallas. They are members of Christ Episcopal Church in Dallas. They have two sons, Thomas A. and Lawrence C. Miller.

Raised a Master Mason in Polytechnic Lodge No. 925, A.F. & A.M., January, 1942. Now a member of Alexander C. Garrett Lodge No. 1216, A.F. & A.M.

Exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Alexander C. Garrett Chapter No. 420, on June 8, 1943. Served as High Priest in 1948. Member of the Order of High Priesthood. He is a Past District Deputy Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas and is Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Arkansas near this Grand Chapter.

Greeted a Royal and Select Master in Dallas Council No. 18, June 23, 1943. He affiliated with Alexander C. Garrett Council No. 382 as a Charter Member, December 17, 1948, and served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 1950. Member of the Order of Silver Trowel; received the Super Excellent Masters Degree; and served the Grand Council as Grand Steward. Was elected and installed as Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Texas on December 3, 1974, and served during 1975.

Knighted a member of Dallas Commandery No. 6, K.T., August 7, 1943. Is now a member of Alexander C. Garrett Commandery No. 103, K.T., and served as Commander, June 1948 to December 1949. Served the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas as Right Eminent Grand Commander in 1971, and has served as Grand Recorder since April, 1972.

Member of Dallas Scottish Rite Bodies and is presently serving as Secretary of the Fort Worth Scottish Rite Bodies.

Member of Our Redeemer Tabernacle No. IX, Holy Royal Arch Knights Templar Priests, served as Preceptor in 1969.

Member and Past Governor of Texas York Rite College No. 14; Saint Mark Conclave No. 13, Red Cross of Constantine; Hella Shrine Temple; and A.C. Garrett Chapter No. 774, Order of the Eastern Star. He was Worthy Patron in 1950.
