Was born April 5, 1902, in the northwest section of Williamson County, near Florence, Texas. When he as a very small child, his parents moved to a ranch six miles over into Burnet County, and he as lived his entire life on this same farm and ranch.

Was married to Miss Vesta Cochran of Bertram, on December 21, 1923. They are the parents of two daughters.

He is a member of the Bertram Methodist Church.

Raised a Master Mason in Mt. Horeb Lodge No. 137, at Mohomet, on September 22, 1923. Served as Worshipful Master in 1929, and as Secretary from 1956 to the present time. Served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 49th District in 1950.

Exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Mt. Horeb Chapter No. 57, on October 6, 1923. Served as High Priest in 1926 and in 1941. Has served as Secretary from 1956 to present date. Was Grand Principal Sojourner in 1933 and 1937; District Deputy Grand High Priest of the 27th District in 1947 and 1949; Grand Master of the 3rd Veil in 1955 and Grand Master of the 2nd Veil in 1960. Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Switzerland, near the Grand Chapter of Texas. Receive the Order of High Priesthood in 1926.

Greeted a Select Master in Mt. Horeb Council No. 41, on October 20, 1923. Served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 1928, 1934, 1937, and 1940. Has served as Recorder from 1956 to present date. Was Grand Visitor of the 27th District in 1959. Was elected Grand Principal Conductor of the Work in 1961, and after advancing through the usual stations, was elected and installed Most Illustrious Grand Master on December 4, 1962, and presided at the Annual Assembly in 1963. Grand Representative of the Grand Council of Colorado, near the Grand Council of Texas. Has received the Super Excellent Masters Degree. Is a member of the Order of the Silver Trowel in Texas.

Dubbed and created a Knight Templar in Colorado Commandery No. 4 in Austin in October, 1923.

Past Patron of Bertram Chapter no. 48, Order of the Eastern Star.
