Born at Kopperl, Bosque County, Texas, on May 25, 1900. He was reared in Hill County, and later lived in Cleburne and various other places in Texas. He is a plumbing contractor. Moving to Rosenberg some twenty years ago, he established his business, the Fort Bend Plumbing and Heating Company. He is also interested in farming and stock raising. He is a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Rosenberg, Texas.

Raised a Master Mason in Cleburne Lodge No. 315, A.F. & A.M., on March 30, 1922. Affiliated with Blum Lodge no. 607, A.F. & A.M., on October 19, 1923. Was Worshipful Master in 1955-56. He is a dual member of Rosenberg Lodge No. 881, A.F. & A.M.

Exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Cleburne Chapter No. 100, R.A.M., on April 6, 1922. Later affiliated with Columbia Chapter No. 34, R.A.M., at West Columbia. Was High Priest in 1948. Affiliated with Richmond Chapter 467, R.A.M. as a dual member on May 10, 1951. He served as Grand Junior Steward in 1949, member of the Committee on Work, 1949-52. Was elected Grand Scribe in 1952. After advancing through the usual offices, he served as Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas in 1956. He is Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Canada, near the Grand Chapter of Texas. He has received the Order of High Priesthood.

Greeted a Royal and Select Master in Cleburne Council No. 61, R.&S.M. on June 26, 1922. Later affiliated with Columbia Council No. 29, R.&S.M., at West Columbia. Was Thrice Illustrious Master in 1949. Affiliated with Richmond Council No. 383 as a dual member on June 7, 1951. Member of the Committee on Work 1949-52. Grand Visitor, 1953. Was elected Illustrious Grand Principal Conductor of the Work in 1957. Was elected and installed Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Texas on December 1, 1959 and presided at the Annual Assembly in 1960. He is Grand Representative of the Grand Council of Oklahoma, near the Grand Council of Texas. Past Thrice Illustrious Master of the Order of Silver Trowel in Texas.

A Knight Templar, he is a charter member and was the first Eminent Commander of Melrose Commandery No. 109, Houston, Texas.

Member of San Felipe Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, Galveston, Texas.

Member of Resurrection Tabernacle No. 21, H.R.A.K.T.P., at Houston.
