Terry Leray. Flippo was born on December 5, 1950 in Borger, Texas. He has lived in Borger, Texas all his life. He has two children: Crystal a daughter and Robert a son. He married Von Worsley on November 8, 1982.
In 1969, Terry graduated Borger Senior High School. He was employed by the City of Borger as a police officer where over the next eight years he worked as a patrol officer, detective and a shift lieutenant. During that time he attended Frank Phillips Junior College and Amarillo Junior College majoring in Law Enforcement Science. In 1980 Terry began working for Panhandle Pipe and Steel as a sales representative. In 1981 he began working for Phillips Petroleum Company as an operator. He retired in 2009 after 28 years of service with ConocoPhillips.
In 1970, Terry joined the Texas National Guard where he served for 6 years. He received an Honorable Discharge in January 1976.
Terry was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on October 26, 1973 in Adobe Walls Lodge No. 1355, AF & AM. He served as the 25th Worshipful Master of the lodge in 1979-80. He was elected as Secretary of Adobe Walls No. 1355 in 1995 and served until the lodge merged with Unity Lodge No. 1242 AF & AM in February 2008. Terry received the Golden Trowel Award on November 16, 1996 from Adobe Walls Lodge No. 1355 AF & AM. In April of 2003 Terry became a dual member in Isom (Unity) Lodge No. 1242 AF & AM where he was elected and continues to serve as Secretary. Terry served as District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District No. 102 in 1996 and was appointed as Grand Junior Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Texas in 1998. Terry has been the editor of the Borger Masons Newsletter since 2006. He has been an “A” Certificate holder for 20+ years in the Blue Lodge Ritual. He had a father’s pride when he raised his son Robert as a Master Mason in White Rock No. 234 on July 19, 2003.
Terry was exalted in Borger Chapter No. 437 RAM, on April 28, 1979. He was served as High Priest of Borger Chapter during the 1994-95 Capitular Year. He was appointed as District Deputy Grand High Priest in 1997 and again in 2011. He received the Order of High Priesthood on December 6, 1994. Terry received the Cornerstone Award on June 7, 1996. He was elected as Secretary of Borger Chapter No. 437, RAM in June of 1995 and continues to serve as the Secretary to the present day.
Terry was greeted in Borger Council No. 354, R&SM on April 28, 1979. He was elected as the Thrice Illustrious Master for the Cryptic Years 1986-87 and 1987-88. Terry was elected as Recorder in June of 1994 and continues to serve to the present day. He received the Order of Silver Trowel on December 7, 1993. Terry received the Cryptic Triangle on May 31, 2003. Terry was appointed as District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Council for 1995 and again in 2013. He was elected as Right Illustrious Grand Principal Conductor of the Work in 2013 and Deputy Grand Master in 2014.
Sir Knight Terry Flippo was Knighted in Borger Commandery No. 96 KT on April 28, 1979 and served as Commander in 1987 and 1988. He was elected as Recorder in 1994 and continues to the present day. Terry became a Charter Member of the Knight Preceptor Degree of Texas on April 28, 1996. He received the Excalibur Award on May 18, 1999. Terry has served on the Membership and Knight Templar Eye Foundation Committees for the Grand Commandery of Texas. Terry is an active member of the Borger “D” Class Drill Team and the Borger Ritual Team. Terry received the Knight Templar Cross of Honor on April 1, 2011. Terry is a dual member of Amarillo Commandery No. 48 KT and served as Commander in 2015.
Terry has been a member of West Texas York Rite College No. 36 in Lubbock Texas since 1995. On December 11, 1995 he was elected as a member of Texas Priory No. 23 Knights of the York Cross of Honour. Terry was elected into Ascension Tabernacle XX Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests on December 21, 1996 where he served as Sovereign Master in 2010. Terry was elected to Crusader Conclave Red Cross of Constantine at Lubbock Texas on May 2, 1998. He served as Puissant Sovereign in 2010. He is a Charter Member of Golden Spread Council No. 468 of the Allied Masonic Degrees.
Terry became a Scottish Rite Mason on October 23, 1984 at El Paso, Texas. He is a dual member of the Lubbock Consistory. Terry was elected to the rank and decoration of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in 2007. He is a Past President of the Tri-City Scottish Rite Association. Terry is Degree Master for the 19th and 26th Degrees in the Lubbock Valley and the 19th Degree in the El Paso Valley. He also works in the 18th and 32nd Degrees at Lubbock.
Terry has compiled the histories of Plemons Lodge No. 877, Adobe Walls Lodge No. 1355, and Unity (Isom) Lodge No. 1242. He has also completed the history of the York Rite Bodies in Hutchinson County. He has served as president of the Borger Shrine Club and the Panhandle Masonic Hilltop Association. He is very active in all Masonic Bodies to which he belongs and has a genuine love for the fraternity.
