Gary D. Dixon was born in 1953 in Paris, Texas, and attended Paris High School. He graduated from Paris Junior College with an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics in 1973.
Gary married his sweetheart Patricia in 1973. They have four children and one grandchild. Their fourth child was a patient in the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas starting in 1984. The caring in the Masonic Fraternity is the driving force behind Gary’s continuing work in the Fraternity.
He is a member of the First Baptist Church in Hawkins. He has worked for ExxonMobil Corporation since 1977 in automation, computers, and measurement.
Gary graduated from the East Texas Police Academy. Then, while working for Smith County, he worked up to Chief Deputy in the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, all the while continuing to work for Exxon. Gary resigned from the Smith County Constable’s Office upon being sworn in as elected Constable in Wood County.
After being elected and sworn into office on January 1, Gary was Commissioned Constable, Precinct 3, Wood County by Texas Governor Rick Perry on January 20, 2009.
Gary was also Commissioned an Admiral in the Texas Navy by Texas Governor Rick Perry on December 13, 2010.
Gary was then Commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Kentucky Governor Steven L. Beshear on February 9, 2011. Gary believes that he has some friends in high places. Not bad for someone with an Arkansas hillbilly accent!
Gary has been awarded the Master Peace Officer Certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
His hobbies include deer hunting and amateur radio. He is still chasing a monster trophy Boone and Crockett buck, please help. He earned his Extra Class Amateur Radio license in 1977. He received the DXCC No.1 Top of the Honor Roll Award from the American Radio Relay League in the mid 1990’s by confirming a ham radio contact with every DXCC country in the world. He has 354 to date. His continuing passion is to deliver to the public, the corner stone oration for the Grand Lodge of Texas all over the state.
MASONIC HISTORY
Gary’s Masonic traveling began in July 1981 in Hawkins Lodge No. 1293 when Initiated as an Entered Apprentice. He became a Master Mason in October 1981, served as Master of the Lodge in 1985 through 1986, became an Endowed Member in 1991, and received the Golden Trowel Award in 2003. He has conferred approximately two hundred Blue Lodge degrees dating back to the mid 1980’s. He became a plural endowed member of St. Johns Lodge No. 53 in Tyler.
He has held an A Certificate in the Esoteric Work from 1997 to the present. He has been a full member of the Sam Houston Hall of Fame since 1999. He served as District Deputy Grand Master in District 11 for R:W: David B. Dibrell in 2001. He is a Charter and Endowed Member of Tranquility Lodge 2000, and an Endowed Member of the Texas Lodge of Research and is currently working on his paper. He is an endowed member of the Hawkins Eastern Star No. 908, and is a life member of the Order of the Amaranth, Houston Court No. 2.
Gary was Exalted in Mineola Chapter No. 322 in 1988, became a member of Tyler Chapter No. 24 and Endowed there in 1999, served as High Priest in 2006, and received the Cornerstone Award in 2006. He became a plural member of Kilgore Chapter No. 449, and served as High Priest there in 2003, and received another Cornerstone Award there in 2009. He received the Order of High Priesthood in 2003. He served as District Deputy Grand High Priest in Capitular District No.2 in 2005 for V:E: J. Weldon Clampitte, as Grand Guard in 2006 for V:E: John Elkinton, and as Grand Captain of the Host in 2008 for V:E: C.J. Laney.
Gary was Greeted in Mineola Council No. 258 in 1988. He became a member of George M. Patrick Council No. 13 and he endowed there in 1999, and served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 2001. He became a plural member of Kilgore Council No. 365, and served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 2003, and received the Cryptic Triangle Award there in 2008. He received the Order of the Silver Trowel in 2001, and took the Super Excellent Master Degree in 2000. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of Cryptic District No. 4 in 2003 for V:I: C.J. Laney. Gary was elected Grand Principal Conductor of the Work in October 2009, and elected R:I: Deputy Grand Master in October 2010.
Gary was Knighted a Knight Templar in Ascension Commandery No. 25, endowed there in 1999, became Eminent Commander there in 2006, and received the Black and White Meritorious Service Award in April 2007. He became a plural member in Kilgore Commandery No. 104, served as Eminent Commander there for two years in 2003 and 2004, and received the All White Meritorious Service Award in April 2004. He became a Knight Preceptor in March 2003, and received the Excalliber Award in Kilgore in 2006. Gary has served as Excellent Prelate in Kilgore from 2006 to the present.
Gary became a member of Texas Priory No. 23 KYCH in 2004, and a dual member of North Texas Priory No. 73 in 2007, and was installed as Herald in May 2011. Gary joined the East Texas York Rite College No. 140 and became Governor in May 2005. He affiliated plural with Lyle Cross York Rite College. He is a Life Member of the Royal Order of Scotland, and the Masonic Order of the Bath. Gary joined Veritas Council No. 59 Knight Masons and became Excellent Chief there in September 2005.
Gary is a Life Member of Alla Grotta and served as Monarch in 2009. In 2005 he became a Charter Member of the Order of St. Thomas of ACON in Tejas Chapel No. 47, and served as Almonder for 2011.
Gary joined the Allied Masonic Degrees in Holy Stone No. 274, and served as the founding charter Sovereign Master of Gran Bethlehemite Council No. 448 in 2007. He has been Secretary since 2008, and received the Knight Commander Red Branch of Eri in 2008. He was elected Secretary of the Texas AMD Association in 2009, Vice President in 2010, and elected President of the Texas State AMD Association in June 2011.
In 1983, he became a Master of the Royal Secret upon receiving the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree in the Valley of Dallas, and served as Presiding Officer, Commander of the Dallas Council of Kadosh in 2004, and served on the Executive Committee. He was honored with the Knight Commander Court of Honor in 2003, and was Coroneted a 33rd Degree Inspector General Honorary in 2009. He is now a plural member of the Valley of Waco since the Sabine River seems to be a dividing line in East Texas.
Gary joined Sharon Temple Shrine in 1988 and is a Life Member. He has received numerous Potentate’s certificates, received the Potentate’s Jewel in 1999, received bars for 2006 through 2010, and received the Samsar Award in 2005. He is a member of the Circus Caravan, and is in the Directors Staff being over the jewelry procurement and sales. He is on the Potentate’s Staff, and is serving as Marshal on the appointed divan since 2008. Not only is he a Flat Foot, but he walked the hot sands and got a Hot Foot!
