Lodge

John took his Craft Degrees in Oak Cliff Lodge No. 705 in 1969 and 1970. He served this Lodge as Worshipful Master during the year 1983 – 1984, and Secretary from 1993 – 2000. Brother John served the Grand Lodge of Texas as District Deputy Grand Master, District No. 14-H, under Grand Master Harry G. Cunningham. He purchased an Endowed Membership in Oak Cliff Lodge in 1993 and received the Golden Trowel Award in 2003. Brother John is also a Life Member of the Dime-a-Day Club helping to preserve the Grand Lodge of Texas.

Chapter of Royal Arch Masons

Companion Gibson received the Chapter Degrees in 1970 at Oak Cliff Chapter No. 373. He served this Chapter of Royal Arch Masons as Most Excellent High Priest in 1981 and received a Life Membership from Oak Cliff Chapter that same year. He purchased an Endowed Membership in 1993 and received the Order of High Priesthood of Texas in 1980. Companion John served the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas as District Deputy Grand High Priest, District No. 51-B in 1982 and as Excellent Grand Master of the 2nd Veil during the year 1983 – 1984. Companion Gibson was presented the Cornerstone Award in 2000 by Oak Cliff Chapter.

Council of Royal and Select Masters

Companion John received the Royal and Select Master Degrees at Oak Cliff Council No. 310 in 1970. He served his Council as Thrice Illustrious Master in 1978, was presented a Life Membership that same year and purchased an Endowed Membership in 1993. Companion Gibson served the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters as District Deputy Grand Master, District No. 51-B in 1982, serving under Most Illustrious Companion Willie Joe Wright. He received the Super Excellent Master Degree in 1980.

Commandery of Knights Templar

Sir Knight Gibson took his Templar Orders in Tancred Commandery No. 82, 1970, in Midlothian, TX. He served this as Eminent Commander in 1978, and continues to serve as Prelate, 1979 to present, and Instructor, 1985 to present. Sir Knight John is an endowed member of Tancred No. 82, Waco No. 10 and is an Honorary Member of Alpine Commandery No. 90 in Alpine, TX. Right Eminent Sir Knight John served the Grand Commandery of Texas in 1991 – 1992 as Grand Commander. He also holds Honorary Membership in the Grand Commanderies of Nebraska, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Washington. ESK John is a Life Sponsor, Associate Patron and Member of the Grand Master’s Club, Knight Templar Eye Foundation.

John E. Gibson started his Masonic career in 1958 when he joined the Order of DeMolay in Oak Cliff, TX. He received the DeMolay Legion of Honor in 1991.

Companion Knight John is Past Governor of North Texas York Rite College No. 118 and received the Order of the Purple Cross in 2008 from the Sovereign York Rite College of North America.

Knight Priest Gibson was invited to join Our Redeemer Tabernacle No. 9, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests in 1981 and served as Preceptor of this order in 1989.

RESK John is a Fellow with the Grand College of Rites of the USA having received this distinction in 1995.

Brother Gibson is a member of Robert Bruce Brannon Council No. 19, Allied Masonic Degrees of the United States of America in Arlington, TX. Ascension Conclave, The Masonic and Military Order of the Red Cross of Constantine, and serves in the progressive Officer Line. Knights of the York Cross of Honor (KYCH), Royal Order of Scotland, Rose of Sharon Council No. 49, Knight Masons of the USA, Order of High Priesthood of Texas, Order of the Silver Trowel of Texas, Alla Grotto in Dallas and The Forty Fivers (Past Grand Commanders Association).

John and Gloria are active members and Elders of Central Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Fort Worth, Texas.
