Grand Commander Richard DeWayne Doss was born July 9, 1955 in Chickasha, Ok. He works for a small independent oil company as a Lease Technician. Richard married his lady, Kathy, on May 5, 1990 in Odessa, Texas where they had previously attended school together many years before. They reside in Quanah, Texas.
Richard was initiated into Quanah Lodge 689 on February 4, 1992, past on April 20, 1993, and raised on July 19, 1993. He served as Worshipful Master in 2000-2001 and again in 2017-2018. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 90th Masonic District in 2003, 2006 and 2007. He received the Golden Trowel Award in October 2007.
Grand Commander Doss was exalted July 1, 1996 into Quanah Chapter 450 and served as High Priest 2005 -2007. He served as District Deputy Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas in the 27th Capitular District in 2009 and is currently serving again. He also served as Grand Organist for Most Excellent Grand High Priest W. David Melear in 2015-2016. He is a member of the Order of the High Priesthood and was appointed Prelate of the Order in October 2015. He received the Cryptic Triangle.
Richard was greeted into Quanah Council 367 on July 1, 1996. He served as Thrice Illustrious Master during 2002-2005, he received the Purple Service award and served as district deputy Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters and served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 27th Cryptic District 2006 and 2016. He served as Grand Organist for the Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council Jeff Miller 2016-2017 and is a member of the Order of the Silver Trowel.
Sir Knight Richard Doss was created a Knight Templar in March of 2000 into Vernon Commandery 33 and is an endowed member, and a plural member of Wichita Falls Commandery 59. He is currently serving as Recorder for Vernon Commandery 33. He served as Eminent Commander 2003 -2006 and again in 2017. He was the recipient of the Excalibur Award and became a member of the Knight Preceptor in 2004. He was elected Grand Sentinel of the Grand Commandery Knight Templar of Texas in 2009 at the 156th Grand Annual Conclave in Waco, Texas. He was created a Knight Commander of the Temple, April 15, 2018.
He became a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Lubbock/Orient of Texas on May 14, 2005, where he is now an endowed member.
Other membership orders and honors includes: a member of the Star of Bethlehem Red Cross of Constantine in April of 2005 where he served as Puissant Sovereign in 2012-2013. Member of Ascension Tabernacle XX Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest, December 2008, West Texas York Rite Sovereign College No. 36, and was the recipient of the Order of the Purple Cross and Associate Regent of the York Rite Sovereign College of North America, A.C. Killion Council No. 452 AMD, James M. Willson Council No. 92 Knights Mason, Knight Templar Cross Honor Texas Priory No. 36 and currently serving as Eminent Prior and a member of the Commemorative Order of the Saint Thomas of Acon Fort Worth Crusader Chapel No. 12.
