Paul D. Warren was born on May 7, 1933 in Elys, Kentucky to Sampson and Mary (Bargo) Warren, the eldest of seven children. He grew up in Kentucky and graduated from Knox Central High School in Barourville, Kentucky in 1951. This was during the Korean conflict and Paul received his greetings from Uncle Sam and enlisted in the Air Force at Dyess Air Force Base in 1953 and got out in 1957.

Paul married Marilyn G. Jones on April 19, 1957 at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas. They have two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Valerie) Dickens and Mrs. Sam (Vickie) Ray; one son, Virgil Warren; and five grandchildren (Michael, LeAnn, Phillip and Melinda Dickens; and Mathew Thomas Ray).

After Military service, Paul was employed with the Abilene Police Department for thirty years and five months, retiring in May, 1992.

Paul was initiated an Entered Apprentice Mason in Abilene Masonic Lodge No. 559 on January 8, 1970 and raised a Master Mason on October 31, 1970. Appointed Junior Steward in June 1971, elected Junior Warden in June 1972, Senior Warden in June 1973 and Worshipful Master in June 1974. He served as Master from June 1974 until June 1975. Presented a Life membership in 1977, Endowed Membership in 1987. Paul took his first Certificate Exam in Lodge in May 1971 and was issued a Life Certificate in May 1997. Served as District Deputy for J. M. (Jimmy) Willson for Masonic District No. 75 in 1982. Served as Area Coordinator for the Grand Masters Conference starting with John E. (Jack) Kelly in 1986 and continuing that, except for two years, through the year of M. W. (Mike) Gower. Appointed Grand Representative to Nevada in 1994 by Grand Master Robert P. Walker. Appointed by Grand Master Walker as a member on the Grand Lodge Committee on Grievances and Appeals No. 2 in 1994 and still serving at the present time.

Paul was Exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Abilene Chapter No. 159 on March 16, 1971. Served as High Priest in 1977 and received the Order of High Priesthood in December 1977. Served as Grand High Priest of the Order of High Priesthood in 1994. Served as District Deputy Grand High Priest, Capitular District No. 30 in 1984 and 1989. Endowed Membership in 1986. Appointed Grand Representative to Queensland in 1988. Served on Recognitions, Honors and Awards Committee and Purposes and Polices Committee for Grand Chapter. Elected Grand Scribe in the Grand Royal Arch Chapter in December 1997. Elected as the Deputy Grand High Priest in the Grand Royal Arch Chapter in 1998. Elected as the Grand High Priest in the Grand Royal Arch Chapter in December 1999.

Paul was Greeted a Royal and Select Master in Abilene Council No. 100 on April 20, 1971. Served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 1976-1977. Received the Order of the Silver Trowel in December 1977, Super Excellent Masters degree in September 1975. Endowed Membership in 1986. Served as District Deputy Grand Master of Cryptic District No. 30 in 1987 and 1991. Appointed Grand Representative to California in 1987. Served on Recognitions, Honors and Awards Committee for Grand Council. Appointed member of Finance Committee for Grand Council in 1997.

Paul was Knighted in Abilene Commnadery No. 27 on March 29, 1971. Served as Commander in 1979. Life Sponsor Knights Templar Eye Foundation in 1980. Grand Masters Club in 1995. Endowed Membership in 1990. Elected Grand Sentinel in the Grand Commandery of Texas in 1987. Progressed through the line until elected as Grand Commander in April 1995. Received Knight Commander of the Temple (KCT) in 1996. Appointed as Grand Representative to Louisiana. Appointed on Grand Encampment Public Relations Committee in 1997.

Received Scottish Rite Degrees in Waco Consistory in September 1982. Knight Commander Court of Honor (KCCH) in November 1991. Endowed Membership Waco Scottish Rite Bodies in 1992. Past President Big Country Scottish Rite Club in 1991. Elected 33rd Degree Honorary in Waco Scottish Rite to be Coroneted in Charleston, South Carolina in 2001. Past President Provost Guard, Legion of Honor. through the line until elected as Grand Commander in April 1995. Served as Secretary of Abilene Shrine Club for several years.

Paul D. Warren, 79, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 in Abilene. Visitation will be 7 till 9 PM, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral will be 10 AM, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend Roy Keith.

Paul was born May 7, 1933 in Elys, Kentucky to Sampson and Mary Warren. He graduated from Knox Central High School in Barbourville, Kentucky and joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. He married Marilyn Jones in 1957 in Abilene where they began their family and were lifelong residents. He began working as a milkman before becoming an officer with the Abilene Police Department in 1961 where he served until his retirement in 1992 after 30 years and 5 months of service to the Abilene Community.

Paul was initiated an Entered Apprentice Mason in Abilene Masonic Lodge No. 559 on January 8, 1970 and raised a Master Mason October 31, 1970. He held many offices and served in many capacities throughout the years. Presently he held the office of Deputy Grand Master of The Grand Council of Texas and was to be installed as Grand Master of The Grand Council of Texas in October.

Paul is survived by two daughters, Valerie Dickens and husband Steve of San Angelo, Vickie Ray and husband Sam of North Richland Hills; one son, Virgil Warren of Merkel; five grandchildren, Michael and wife Dawn Dickens, Leanne Dickens, Phillip and wife Shelly Dickens, Melinda and husband Kyle Jones, Matthew Ray; five great grandchildren, Tyler, Mason, Kaden, Parker, Addison; one sister, Marie Hensley; two brothers, Dana Warren, Claude Warren; sister-in-law, Barbara Warren; brother-in-law, Larry Ball; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Pallbearers for the service will be Glen McCandless, Jerry Pingle, Charlie Martin, Rick Trogden, Hubert Smith, Lewis Williams and two honoraries, Lonnie Boggs and Mac Crowder.
