David Murray Baskin was born to Gene C. & Patricia A. Baskin on December 27, 1965, in Dallas, Texas. He also has a brother and sister, who he is very proud of. David was raised in Garland and graduated from North Garland H. S. After a few years of working in theatre he left Dallas to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre from Stephen F. Austin State University with a minor in Communication. Graduating in 1994, he moved back to the Dallas area and married Julie M. Lewis in 1995. They currently live in Sachse with their two French Bulldogs and two cats. David is a licensed REALTOR with Coldwell Banker Apex in the Dallas area.
David's Masonic career started in high school when he joined Richardson Chapter Order of DeMolay on January 19, 1982. Serving on numerous committees and holding various offices, he was elected Master Councilor in August 1982. He was dubbed a Sir Knight of Auvergne Priory in March of 1984 and served as Illustrious Knight Commander and received the Past Illustrious Knight Commander - Meritorious Service Award. In June of 1985, he was elected to serve as State Illustrious Knight Commander. He received the Degree of Chevalier from his Chapter in 1986 and was honored with the DeMolay Legion of Honor in 2002. He also served as State Commander of the Texas State Court of Chevaliers in 1995.
After reaching majority in DeMolay, many of his advisors began to question what lodge he was planning on joining and when. Understanding that he would be a fourth-generation mason, he asked his father for advice. David feels that his father gave him the best advice possible. He told David, "join a lodge you will be active with." David was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason by his father in Washington Lodge No. 1117 in Richardson. David served as Worshipful Master from 1998 - 1999. He was elected to serve as Treasurer in 2001 and holds that office currently. He was honored as a recipient of the Golden Trowel Award in 2015. He was privileged to serve Grand Master James F. Brumit as a District Deputy Grand Master and Assistant State Coordinator in 2012. He has also served on several committees for Grand Lodge.
In 1989, David was Exalted a Royal Arch Mason in George Washington Chapter No. 422 and served as High Priest in 2011 - 2012 and currently serves as Treasurer. He served as District Deputy Grand High Priest in 2013. David was elected Right Excellent Grand Scribe in 2017, Right Excellent Grand King in 2018 and Right Excellent Deputy Grand High Priest in 2019.
David was greeted in John C. Callahan Council No. 408 as a Royal and Select Master in 1989 and served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 2011 - 2012 and currently serves as Treasurer. He received the Cryptic Triangle Award in 2019.
David was knighted as a Knight Templar in Alexander C. Garrett Commandery No. 103 in 2014 and served as Commander in 2019.
David joined the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Dallas in 1996. He served as Master of Kadosh for Dallas Consistory No. 2. He was honored with the Knight Commander of the Cross of Honour in 2009 and was coronated a 33rd Degree Inspector General Honorary in 2019. He continues to serve on the Stage Crew and has served on various committees.
David also holds membership in the Royal Order of Scotland, Holy Grail Council No. 287 of the Allied Masonic Degrees, St. Mark Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine, and Lyle L. Cross No. 147 York Rite College.
