Exalted in Covington No. 215, Covington, Tennessee 2/9/1968. Charles Louis Hopkins was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 17, 1945. He attended public schools in Covington, Tennessee and graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tennessee. Active in the Boy Scouts, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with two Silver Palms. He attended or has degrees from: Texas A&M, Southern Methodist University, Lambeth College, University of Tennessee, and University of Chicago. He served his Country in several agencies.
Louis worked as a District Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he helped develop programs for Handicapped Scouting and Special Interest Explorer programs. He later served as Sales Manager for Johnson & Johnson and Vice President for Sales for Star Industries. Currently, he has his own business restoring antique and special interest cars, in Farmersville, Texas.
Louis has two daughters, Sarah Katherine Hopkins and Laura Margaret Spurger. He has four grandchildren.
Companion Hopkins was Raised a Master Mason in Dunham Lodge #150, Covington, Tennessee by his Father, James Thomas Hopkins, who was the Worshipful Master in 1967. He and his Father were Exalted in Covington Chapter #215 in 1968.
Louis served as Worshipful Master of Empire Lodge #586 in Nevada, Texas, 1998 and as District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District #9B in 2000.
He served as High Priest for Haggai Chapter #53 in McKinney, Texas during 1990, and as District Deputy Grand High Priest of Capitular District #26 in 1994. He is currently serving as Secretary for Haggai Chapter #53 and Master of the 2nd Veil for Greenville Chapter #114. He is a member of the Order of the High Priesthood.
Companion Hopkins was Greeted as a Select Master in Occidental Council #1 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He served as Thrice Illustrious Master of Haggai Council #38 in McKinney during 1990, and as District Deputy Grand Master of Cryptic District #26 during 1997. He is currently serving as Recorder in Haggai Council #38 and Sentinel in Greenville Council #68. He is a member of the Order of the Silver Trowel.
He received the Royal Purple Service Award from the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters in 1997 and the Cryptic Triangle Award from Haggai Council #38 in 2002.
Louis was Knighted in Hugh du Paynes Commandery #1 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He served as Commander of McKinney Commandery #34 three times, in 1989, 1990, 1991. He is currently serving as Recorder in McKinney Commandery #34 and Junior Warden in Demolay Commandery #20. He received the Excalibur Award from McKinney Commandery #34 in 1997. He served as General Grand Chairman for Grand Commandery of Texas in 2000. He is Drill Team Captain for McKinney Commandery #34, Class D Drill Team and a member of Dallas Commandery #6, National Class B Championship Team of 2000. He is a Charter Member of the Order of Knights Preceptor of Texas, 1996.
He is a member of the Dallas Valley of the Scottish Rite, serving as the Chairman of the Ritualistic Committee, and is a member of three Degree Teams.
He is Past Governor of North Texas York Rite College #118, 2000.
He is the Past Sovereign Master of William B. Travis Council #344, Allied Masonic Degrees, 2001 and was elected to The Red Branch of Erie in 2002.
He served as Thrice Illustrious Master of the Grand Order of the Silver Trowel, 2001.
Companion Hopkins is a Past Monarch of ALLA Grotto, Dallas, 1998.
Currently serving as Senior Knight in Rose of Sharon Council #44 of Knight Masons.
He is a member of Texas Priory #23 Knights of York Cross of Honour, the Texas Lodge of Research, York Rite Esoteric Assn., and the Royal Order of Scotland.
