Was born April 9, 1916, in Meridian, Bosque County, Texas, the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. Frank McDonald. Graduate Hill County Schools; Baylor University; and the University of Texas Law School. Married to the former Miss Louise Vanderford of Aquilla. They have one daughter, Miss Luann Leonese McDonald. Commenced law practice in Hill County in 1938; former District Judge 66th Judicial District; and is presently Chief Justice, Court of Civil Appeals, Tenth Supreme Judicial District, Waco.
Combat veteran World War II, serving sixty-seven months; thirty months overseas in Africa and Europe. He entered the service an enlisted man and was released a Lt. Colonel. Deputy Brigade Commander, 36th Infantry Division.
Raised a Master Mason in Hillsboro Lodge No. 196, A.F.&A.M., in 1939. Served as Worshipful Master in 1949. He is a member of the Texas Lodge of Research.
Exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Hillsboro Chapter No. 152 in 1939. Was High Priest in 1952. He is a dual member of Waco Chapter No. 45. He is a member of the Order of High Priesthood of Texas. Grand Representative of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Ohio, near the Grand Chapter of Texas. Secretary to the Committee on Work of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter, 1946-1950; Grand Captain of the Host, 1954; Grand Orator, 1957; was elected Grand Scribe in 1960, and after advancing through the usual stations, was elected and install MƒÌEƒÌGrand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas on December 4, 1962, and presided at the Annual Convocation in December, 1963.
Greeted a Select Master in Hillsboro Council No. 94 in 1939. Was Thrice Illustrious Master in 1957. Grand Representative of the Grand Council of R.&S.M. of Ohio, near the Grand Council of Texas. Member of the Order of the Silver Trowel of Texas.
Dubbed and created a Knight Templar in Hillsboro Commandery No. 39, K. T., in 1940. Served as Commander in 1950.
Member of Texas Priory No. 23, K.Y.C.H.
Member DeMolay Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine.
32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Waco Bodies.
